In May of 2013, my part time work of being a caregiver for a delightful lady with dementia in her own home, was coming to an end. I was lying on my bed in the mid-morning, feeling sorry for myself, not knowing what I was going to do with my life or where I was going to work (I was an experienced Administrator but was on a break from that career). A thought presented itself - loud and clear!
"Go to the library, there's a book waiting for you there."
As I know the Universe speaks to us in a variety of ways, I got off the bed and walked to my nearest library. It was a brilliantly sunny autumn day and I knew the fresh air would do me good if nothing else.
I didn't think the book would be in the fiction section, so went to the 'biography/autobiography' section. I couldn't find anything there so wandered over to the 'self help' section. I was reaching up to pull out a book on the top shelf when it literally 'fell' into my hand. It was by world-renownded life coach and author, Martha Beck (writer of a life coaching column in Oprah Winfrey's magazine, O) and was called Finding Your Way in a Wild New World. It transformed my life.
I took the book home and engrossed myself in it. I applied the exercises to myself, read with relish the stories of change her clients experienced and found my joy level rising each day.
A week later, my caregiving job now safe, a friend rang me to say she had seen an advert in our local free newspaper for life coach training and she thought I would be good at it! Synchronicity! I had a talk with the trainer and just knew this was for me. It brought together all the other personal development training I had done over the years into one effective package.
I completed Levels I & II of Momentum Life Coaching and Training courses and became an accredited life coach and a member of International Coach Federation (ICF), and my life hasn't looked back.
Not only did life coaching give me a new and exciting career which I am passionate about, it gave me the ability to transform my relationships. I was no longer fearful and controlling, instead I used my coach training to support, encourage, love and help those closest to me and no longer needed them to do things 'my way'.
For me, becoming a Momentum Certified Life Coach was a natural progression after many years of personal development. My passion for, and commitment to my own self-development has been a focus for most of my adult life. And, the rewards have been wonderful.
I love helping people, especially couples, realise their goals and dreams. With your hard work and focus, my guidance, and proven Life Coaching techniques, you can achieve all you desire.
